Transdev CEO Mark Joseph announced that Dick Alexander has been promoted to SVP of Business Development for all North American divisions of the company. This encompasses the company’s four divisions: Transit, Rail, On-Demand and IntelliRide. Prior to this promotion, Alexander served as SVP of Business Development for the company’s Transit Division, which operates bus, paratransit and BRT contracts with city and county transit authorities, universities and airports in 120 locations. The three divisions for which Alexander now assumes responsibility for business development include the Rail Division, which operates a variety of commuter and light rail contracts; the IntelliRide Division, which focuses on brokered transportation serving Medicaid, student and ADA-certified persons with disabilities; and the On-Demand division, which operates SuperShuttle and ExecuCar contracts at more than 45 airports, as well as employee, passenger and airline crew transfer services at leading airports, and numerous taxi and specialty bus companies around the country.
In making the announcement, Joseph said, "Dick has proven himself to be a highly skilled leader and innovator. His character, ethics and client relationships will continue to help us grow our business. He generates productive collaboration and finds solutions for clients." He continued, "Dick has successfully managed a diverse array of innovative responses to RFPs and has developed new public-private operating partnerships that help cities achievecustomer -focused, efficient operations."
Prior to joining Transdev (previously Veolia Transportation) in 2000, Alexander owned his own consulting firm assisting public agencies to improve operating efficiencies through organizational restructuring, increased service productivity and the involvement of the private sector in public operations. From 1986 to 1998 he served as a regional vice president for ATE Management and Services, a large private sector public transportation company in charge of more than 20 transit organizations in the Midwest.
Alexander started his career in the transit industry as a transportation planner and later a system manager. He has a Bachelor’s Degree in Urban Planning and Design from the University of Cincinnati and a Masters of Business Administration from Xavier University.
