In recent weeks, public tests have taken place in a few stations on the green line, and soon a few stations on the Orange Line. The proposed commissioning of a cellular network in the subway ahead as planned.

These tests are used to measure several elements including speed phone network, coverage, capacity and reliability during busy times. Thus, the cellular network is available intermittently depending on the tests and adjustments made by the four telecom providers gathered in the project.

Recall that the cost of deploying mobile network shall be divided by four telecommunications providers parts, namely: Bell, Rogers, TELUS and Videotron.

These providers work closely with TELUS, which is the project integrator serving the STM and public transit customers. The deployment of the network is divided into five phases. This mobilizing project that promises will finally allow the use of wireless devices in our nearly 900,000 daily customers traveling on the subway. Montreal will become one of the few cities in the world with an underground subway with a 3G mobile network, 4G and 4G LTE.
