The Antelope Valley Transit Authority (AVTA) has been honored with the highest form of recognition for its financial accounting. The AVTA’s Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR) for the 2013 fiscal year received the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting. This widely esteemed award was presented to AVTA by the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA).

“We are honored to accept this award as it represents some of the agency’s core values which include transparency and good stewardship,” stated AVTA Executive Director Julie Austin. “Our finance team has worked diligently to develop a financial accounting system that is top notch and this award stands as a symbol of success to all of us.”

The last time the AVTA received this Certificate of Achievement was in 2008. The CAFR was judged by an impartial panel and deemed to meet the high standards of the program including demonstrating a “spirit of full disclosure” to clearly communicate its financial story.

“The AVTA finance team is truly exceptional and this award is another indicator of the strong leadership we continue to see emanate from the agency,” expressed Board Chairman Norm Hickling.
