Keith Sherman Joins Parsons Brinckerhoff

Keith Sherman has been named a senior supervising planner in the Chicago office of Parsons Brinckerhoff.

Keith Sherman has been named a senior supervising planner in the Chicago office of Parsons Brinckerhoff.

In his new position, Sherman is responsible for providing planning services in support of statewide and Chicago -area planning, economic development, and freight transportation projects.

Sherman comes to Parsons Brinckerhoff after a 38-year career with the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT), most recently serving as chief of urban program planning. He served on the transportation committee of the Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning and was responsible for the preparation and monitoring of programs for transit, rail freight, and intercity rail passenger service as well as airports. Prior to leading IDOT’s Bureau of Urban Program Planning, he served as the chief of planning and systems in the IDOT Bureau of Statewide Program Planning.

During his career with IDOT, Sherman has represented the department on the Illinois Green Government Coordinating Council, the Illinois Climate Change Task Force, the Governor’s Rural Affairs Council, and the Illinois Freight Advisory Committee. He has also been involved in national transportation issues, serving as a member of the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials’ freight advisory group, and as a member of several National Academy of Sciences panels. 

Sherman received an M.S. in city and regional planning from Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville and a B.S. in geography from the University of Oregon.
