IN: Downtown Transit Center Moves Forward with Invitation to Bid

IndyGo's Invitation for Bid process for the general contractor of the Downtown Transit Center is now open.

The Downtown Transit Center is a nearly $20 million project to enhance the public transit network in Indianapolis. The transit center will be located at the southeast corner of Washington and Delaware on a 1.9 acre lot. It will include 19 bus bays with real-time arrival information, an indoor waiting area, customer service and ticket sales as well as a small retail space.

A pre-bid meeting will be held on July 21 to review the procurement milestones and answer questions about the project. All interested parties are asked to attend the meeting at The Hall, located at 202 N. Alabama, at 10 a.m. Parking is available in the lot directly north of The Hall, with access from Alabama Street.

The award of contract will be announced on Aug. 29, ground breaking will occur this fall and the transit center is set to be in full operation by the end of 2015.
