NC: Veolia Transportation Awarded Contract Renewal in Greensboro

The city council in Greensboro, N.C., awarded a new three year contract to incumbent company Veolia Transportation in an 8 to 1 vote.

The city council in Greensboro, N.C., awarded a new three year contract to incumbent company Veolia Transportation in an 8 to 1 vote.

The new contract is for three years with one (two year) option. Veolia has been under contract with the city and Greensboro Transit Authority (GTA) Board since 1999, providing fixed route, ADA para-transit services and Demand Responsive and Flex Services.

“Since the beginning we have strived to improve both fixed route and paratransit services for the city of Greensboro”, said Derrick Breun, Area Vice President for Veolia’s Transit Division. “We’ve proudly partnered with the City and GTA team and welcomed their leadership in building a safer, more customer-friendly service”.

Veolia provides operations and maintenance services for the city of Greensboro utilizing 43 fixed route buses, 14 HEAT (Higher Education Area Transportation) buses and 45 paratransit vehicles. Veolia employs 236. 

Breun added, “We are very much looking forward to the continued relationship over the next several years with our client and with our passengers.”

The new contract takes effect on Sept. 1.
