DC: Metro Employee Arrested for Theft

Metro Transit Police on June 2 arrested Alonzo W. Price, 27, of Northwest Washington, D.C., on a charge of first degree theft.

Metro Transit Police on June 2 arrested Alonzo W. Price, 27, of Northwest Washington, D.C., on a charge of first degree theft.

Price worked as a WMATA revenue collection technician, an employee with responsibility for handling coins and cash from Metrorail vending machines.

The alleged theft was detected through Metro's internal controls, prompting Metro Transit Police to launch an undercover investigation. Additional details regarding the case are being withheld due to the ongoing nature of the investigation. 

Price had worked for Metro since November 2005.  He has been placed on administrative leave.
