The Texas Diversity Council selected Via President/CEO Jeffrey C. Arndt as one of its 2014 Champions of Diversity.

The Diversity Council fosters a learning environment for organizations to grow in their knowledge of diversity and inclusion, and the Champions of Diversity Award recognizes top executives in the state for their efforts and commitment to diversity. The award was presented to Arndt at the council’s conference in San Antonio on May 1 during the CEO Awards Ceremony, where the keynote speaker was General Colin Powell.

“I promote diversity at VIA because it’s the right thing to do for the agency and the community,” said Arndt. “As the head of a major employer, it’s up to me to embody the principles of diversity and to promote fairness in hiring, promoting, recruiting, and retaining employees of all backgrounds. In this way we can guarantee that every opportunity for advancement and success at Via is available to anyone regardless of race, ethnicity, or gender.”

VIA’s diversity commitment is to recognize the contributions and achievements of the employee workforce to its culture; to increase awareness, mutual respect, and understanding among all employees; and to develop a more in-depth appreciation for the diverse workforce at VIA and the San Antonio community through involvement and education.
