ND: CAT Bus to Celebrate 10 Years in May

May 1, 2014
It is the CAT's 10th anniversary this year.

Ten, Diaz, X, Decade, Dime, 10. There are many ways to say it, and they are thrilled to be celebrating it. The big one-oh!  It is the CAT's 10th anniversary this year.

Back in May of 2004, the CAT bus was dedicated and began giving its first rides.  “It is hard to believe that it has been 10 years since we began the fixed route public bus system in Bismarck and Mandan.”  Stated transit director Robin Werre.  “We are very excited to commemorate this milestone in May with our communities and supporters.”

In May, the CAT will be hosting an open house, offering free ride days and a discounted pass promotion.

Anniversary Open House – May 6

To celebrate the 10 year anniversary, the CAT bus will be hosting an open house event on May 6, the actual anniversary date of the CAT dedication back in 2004.   The open house will begin with a press conference and ribbon cutting ceremony with the Bismarck-Mandan Chamber of Commerce at the Bismarck-Mandan Transit Center in Bismarck at 2:00 p.m.  Speakers will include the following:  Senator Heidi Heitkamp’s Representative; Don Larson, Chief of Staff to Senator John Hoeven; Larry Jahnke, Deputy State Director to Congressman Kevin Cramer; Bismarck Mayor John Warford; Mandan Mayor Arlyn Van Beek; and Transit Director Robin Werre.

The open house will run from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. The community is invited to stop in for some anniversary cake along with other refreshments, visit with staff, take a tour of the facility or a CAT bus, or just mingle and network with the other attendees.

Anniversary Free Ride Days – May 9 and 10

To continue the celebration and to show appreciation to current riders for 10 great years in Bismarck and Mandan, the CAT bus will be offering free ride days on May 9-10.  Everyone can “Catch the CAT” for free rides all day, both days.

Anniversary Pass Promotion – All of May, 2

Riders may purchase a 30 day CAT pass any day during the month of May for just $10.
