On April 6, National Express operator for its Piedmont Authority for Regional Transportation (PART) contract,  J.W. Gilley, was awarded second place in the North Carolina Public Transportation Association/North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCPTA/NCDOT)’s annual Bus and Van Roadeo

The Roadeo is a two-day event, beginning with practice and training on April 5, and a course competition among more than 70 North Carolina bus drivers from systems across the State.  Following the competition, all contestants, judges, family members and guests celebrated together at a cookout where the winners were honored at an Awards Ceremony.

National Express Operator J.W. Gilley, who placed third in the same competition in 2013, has participated in 9 roadeos during his 12-year career as an operator.   J.W. is supported by his wife, who has attended every roadeo in which J.W. has participated.

J.W.’s General Manager Joe Sanchez, said, “J.W. is a dedicated employee who clearly loves what he does.  He consistently works with other Operators to demonstrate how to run the difficult deviated shuttle routes we operate.  He has always shown a commitment to safety and customer service, and has a great relationship with his co-workers and our client at PART.  We were all very excited by his Second Place award at the Roadeo.”
