PA: James Martin Promoted to Vice President at STV

James A. Martin, P.E., PMP, has been promoted to vice president of STV.

James A. Martin, P.E., PMP, has been promoted to vice president of STV. Martin is the director of rail vehicle engineering for the firm’s transportation and infrastructure division.

Martin joined STV in 1995 and has accumulated more than 25 years of experience in railcar procurement and overhaul programs, supporting a broad spectrum of clients including NJ Transit, the Connecticut Department of Transportation, Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority, Agence Métropolitaine de Transport (AMT) in Montreal, Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority and Maryland Transit Administration.

Based in STV’s Philadelphia office, Martin has managed such award-winning projects as the ALP-45 Dual-Powered Locomotive procurement program for NJ Transit and AMT. These groundbreaking vehicles are the first locomotives in North America to run on both diesel power and overhead catenary electric power. This innovative initiative provided the same locomotives to the two separate rail agencies with similar needs.

Martin received his Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering from Trenton State College in Ewing Township, N.J. He is a registered professional engineer in New Jersey and Maryland, and a licensed project management professional.

Demonstrating his leadership in the design and construction industry, Martin is a member of the National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying, and has published a number of articles for the American Public Transportation Association.
