AR: CATA Announces 2 New Members to the Administrative Staff

The Central Arkansas Transit Authority (CATA) announced that Jason Smedley has been named director of public engagement, effective Feb 17 and Jon Wisniewski, as the new grants accountant, effective Mar 4.

The Central Arkansas Transit Authority (CATA) announced that Jason Smedley has been named director of public engagement, effective Feb 17 and Jon Wisniewski, as the new grants accountant, effective Mar 4.

Prior to joining CATA, Smedley was the special assistant for agency and legislative affairs for the Office of Governor Beebe. As the director of public engagement, Smedley will oversee community outreach efforts, marketing and advertisement, and governmental affairs. Smedley states, “I’m grateful for the opportunity to serve our community as a member of CATA.”

Wisniewski was an accountant for Quality Petroleum Inc., before joining CATA. As the grants accountant, Wisniewski will apply for grants that will contribute to the overall financial support for CATA services and administer grant funding. Wisniewski states, “CATA is a great organization that allows me to make a difference in the lives of Arkansans using transit services.

“We’re excited to have Jason and Jon as part of the CATA team,” states Jarod Varner, CATA executive director. “The experience and talent they bring are a great addition as we continue to enhance the transit services we bring the central Arkansas community.”
