ON: Cindy Cain Joins Veolia

She will oversee safety at Veolia's canadian properties.

Cindy Cain has joined Veolia Transportation North America as the northeast region director of safety and training. 

She will be based in Vaughn, On., where she will have oversight for safety and training for Veolia’s Southwest and York Regions in Ontario. In her capacity as Veolia’s representative to the Ontario Ministry of Transportation, she will be responsible for compliance with all Recognized Authority requirements for transit delivery.

Cain began her transit career as a driver for Laidlaw Education Services in 1986.  While there she held a series of positions focused on driver development and safety, and was appointed Regional Safety Manager for First Student/Laidlaw Education Services-Canadian Region in 2005, a post she held until her promotion to Area Safety Manager in 2013.

She holds multiple certifications in safety and training, including a special needs transportation certification from the National Association for Pupil Transportation and labour code certifications from the Transportation Health Safety Association of Ontario.  She completed a Durham College business program with Honors, and is currently enrolled in an Occupational Health and Safety Certificate program at the University of New Brunswick. She volunteers for a number of local charities focusing on the disabled, including The Equestrian Association for the Disabled (TEAD), which provides therapeutic horseback riding opportunities for the physically and emotionally disabled.
