Dec. 6, 2013
Contract extension is for two years.

The Redding Area Bus Authority (RABA), in its regular monthly meeting, approved the first two-year contract extension for Veolia Transportation. The extension, which was recommended by the RABA staff, is set to begin July 1, 2014.

“We have a great team of very skilled employees in Redding”, said Ron Bushman, regional vice president for the northwest. We’ve made great strides with safety and operational performance and we look forward to the next two years of providing service for area residents.”

Veolia operates both the fixed route and paratransit services with 38 vehicles and 63 employees. In 2012 Veolia installed SmartDrive technology in vehicles. SmartDrive is a video event based recorder used to train and assist coach operators in safe driving and fuel efficiency. Currently Veolia is assisting RABA with a system-wide route re-design and modification scheduled to go into effect in July of 2014.

RABA's service area centers on Redding, the county seat of Shasta County, located at the northern end of the Sacramento Valley, approximately 160 miles north of Sacramento. Veolia Transportation has operated the RABA service since 1997.
