IA: DART Now on Google Maps

Residents and visitors of Greater Des Moines can now plan their trips by public transit using Google Maps.

The Des Moines Area Regional Transit Authority (DART) has worked with Google to add its schedule information to Google Maps and Google Earth. As a result, Google Maps users will now be able to see public transit directions for Greater Des Moines. Previously, only driving, walking or biking directions were available.

“We want everyone to see they have options for traveling in Greater Des Moines – you don’t have to be leashed to a car,” Marketing Director Kirstin Baer-Harding said. “So it’s critically important that DART’s information is available through popular and widely available tools such as Google Maps.”

The addition of DART’s schedule information on Google Maps follows the launch on Oct. 1 of the MyDART Trip Planner BETA. Both tools utilize the same data, giving riders multiple ways to access DART schedule information.
