The Chittenden County Transportation Authority (CCTA) announced the launch of its newest service, the Jeffersonville Commuter, on Oct. 14.

The new commuter route provides weekday service along the Route 15 corridor, serving Jeffersonville, Cambridge, Underhill, Jericho, and Essex Town as it heads into Winooski and Burlington. The route offers two morning round trips, arriving in downtown Burlington at 7:45 and 8:15 AM, and two afternoon/evening trips, departing downtown Burlington at 4:30 and 5:10 PM.

The Jeffersonville Commuter route was included in CCTA’s Transit Development Plan as a needed service along a major commuting corridor into Chittenden County. The route was selected as a project by the Circ Alternatives Task Force to improve transportation options and is being operated with federal Congestion Mitigation Air Quality funds (80 percent) and state operating funds (20 percent). The one-way cash fare is $2, with $20 10-ride passes and $75 31-day passes (valid on local routes also) available.

On the two morning trips on Oct. 14, the route carried 35 passengers, meeting its first year daily ridership target on its first day of operation.
