At the 2013 Light Rail Awards held in London, Bombardier Transportation won the coveted award for Manufacturer of the Year. Taking this prestigious award for the third year running after winning Worldwide Supplier of the Year in 2010, Bombardier impressed the judges with its commitment to technological innovation, reliability and customer service — no matter where across the globe. In addition, the judges highly commended Bombardier in the category Supplier of the Year.

"The highly-prized accolade Manufacturer of the Year underscores our capability as a provider of light rail solutions and as a reliable partner for our customers," said Germar Wacker, president Light Rail Vehicles, Bombardier Transportation, upon receiving the award from the UK Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Transport, Norman Baker, at the awards on October 2.

In cities worldwide, the demand for trams as a sustainable solution to reduce congestion has increased. As the global urban population grows, the demand increases for light rail solutions that are both technologically advanced and imaginatively designed. Bombardier is the long-standing light rail market leader and offers the industry's most complete portfolio of light rail solutions, efficiently moving passengers around the world every day on reliable and innovative vehicles.

More than 4,000 Bombardier trams and Light rail vehicles are in revenue service or on order in more than 75 cities across Europe, Asia, Australia and North America. In the UK, Bombardier's light rail vehicles are in successful revenue service in Manchester, London Docklands, Croydon, Nottingham, and Blackpool, where the world's first Bombardier Flexity 2 tram has been operating since April 2012.
