The ‘Grow with Public Transport’ campaign has taken on a global dimension as cities around the world have come together to call for more and better public transport to make cities better places to work and live.

The International Association of Public Transport (UITP) is encouraging its members in 92 countries to join the ‘All Together for Public Transport Growth’ movement. To coincide with European Mobility Week (Sept. 16-22), cities across the globe will display the rallying slogan ‘Grow’ on and in public transport vehicles, stations, stops, websites and social media.

“The fact that so many cities have already agreed to join this movement is really encouraging,” explained UITP Secretary General, Alain Flausch. “With this campaign we want to send out a strong message to political decision makers and citizens alike that public transport plays a key role in achieving sustainable growth, social cohesion and environmental protection.”

More details about participating cities will be revealed in the coming weeks and a press conference will be held in Brussels on September 18 to announce the final results.
