AZ: Valley Metro and Valley Metro Rail Transit Boards Elect 2013-14 Officers

Valley Metro and Valley Metro Rail transit boards have elected new officers for the Fiscal Year 2013-14 term.

Valley Metro and Valley Metro Rail transit boards have elected new officers for the Fiscal Year 2013-14 term.

Valley Metro is the regional public transportation authority providing public transit and rideshare services in the greater Phoenix area. The agency receives policy direction from elected officials representing 15 member cities and the county. Elected to serve as Valley Metro Board officers:

Chair – Mesa Councilmember Scott Somers
Vice Chair – Chandler Councilmember Trinity Donovan
Treasurer – Avondale Councilmember Jim McDonald

Valley Metro Rail operates, maintains and expands the light rail/high-capacity system in the greater Phoenix area. The Board is comprised of five local elected officials who provide policy direction for rail service. Elected to serve as Valley Metro Rail Board officers:

Chair – Tempe Councilmember Shana Ellis
Vice Chair – Mesa Councilmember Dennis Kavanaugh

“I look forward to working with the new leadership on both transit boards and anticipate significant accomplishments as we work hand in hand to enhance transit services in the Valley,” said Steve Banta, Valley Metro CEO.

The leadership for each board will serve a one-year term through June 30, 2014.
