From Sept. 16-22, public transport networks all around the world will display the same message at the same time: "Grow with Public Transport."

From Sept. 16-22, public transport networks all around the world will display the same message at the same time: "Grow with Public Transport." Together these cities will show that the world of public transport is united with a common aim: making cities better places to live and work.

On the occasion of the 2013 European Mobility Week, the International Association of Public Transport (UITP) is encouraging its members in 92 countries across the globe to adopt the campaign message in their local languages in order to highlight the economic, environmental and social benefits of public transport.

Lisbon is the first city to take part in the global movement - the campaign being adopted by Transportes de Lisboa–Carris e Metro – and is already being displayed on and in metros, buses, stations and stops, websites and social media throughout the city ahead of September.

“The aim of this campaign is to make the case for sustained investment in improving public transport in terms of quality and quantity,” explained UITP Secretary General, Alain Flausch. “We firmly believe that public transport is a vital element in making cities more attractive places to live and work and in September we will show that this is truly a global movement”.

More details about participating cities will be revealed during August and a press conference will be held in Brussels in September during European Mobility Week to announce the final results.
