The Portland Streetcar kicked off a month-long beta test of its new mobile ticketing application. The test will run through July 26th.

Once made generally available later this summer, the Portland Streetcar mobile ticket app, built and powered by GlobeSherpa, will allow customers to buy tickets and passes anytime, anywhere, with no need to wait in lines or find a ticket vending machine. Mobile ticketing adds a convenient option for customers with no capital investment for Portland Streetcar or need for additional equipment.

Other points to note:

• The Portland Streetcar mobile ticketing app will initially be available for iPhone and Android operating systems. Windows and Blackberry operating systems may be supported later in 2013.
• During the mobile tickets beta test, only the book of 5 Single-Ride tickets will be available for purchase through the Portland Streetcar mobile tickets application.
• Following the beta test period, feedback from testers will be incorporated into the product and any necessary updates, changes, or modifications will be made to the app before it is made generally available to the public.
