Ten buses of the Fort Worth Transportation Authority (The T) have become moving canvases to showcase the art of Fort Worth Independent School District students who won The T’s annual “Expressions That Move You” contest this year.

The artwork of each of the ten winners will be displayed on the side of one of The T’s buses through August. Buses rotate routes so each student’s art may be seen in several areas throughout Fort Worth.

More than 80 entries were submitted in this year’s contest for artwork that depicts what The T, public transportation, the city of Fort Worth, and the environment means to the student. Entries were judged on theme, artistic merit and creativity.

Four winners were selected in the kindergarten through elementary school category and three winners each from middle and high school categories. One winner within each category was awarded a grand prize.

The program is a partnership of The T and FWISD for to provide additional enrichment activities for students who participate in the Fort Worth After School Program.

“We believe ‘Expressions That Move You’ is as much an opportunity for the students of the Fort Worth After School program as it is for us at The T,” said Richard Maxwell, The T’s assistant vice president of marketing. “By recognizing the talents of the up-and-coming community of tomorrow, The T is able to better understand what motivates them, and in turn, we are able to move them toward an interest in art as well as public transportation, their city, and the importance of protecting the environment.”
