Metro Transit presented 60 awards honoring the best Twin Cities bus and train operators at a ceremony June 6 in Minneapolis.
Awards were presented to nine operators for 25 years of safe driving. Two were named 25-year elite operators and three were named 20-year elite operators for decades of top-notch customer service, attendance and safe driving. Seven were named superior master operators for meeting award standards for 15 years. Prestige master operator status was given to 12 operators for 10 years, and 27 were presented the master operator designation for five years of achieving award criteria.
Awards were presented by Metro Transit General Manager Brian Lamb and Metropolitan Council Regional Administrator Pat Born. John Harrington, Chief of Metro Transit Police also delivered remarks. Metro Transit is an operating agency of the Metropolitan Council.
“To most transit customers, their operator is the face of Metro Transit,” Lamb said. “The ability of each of our 1,500 operators to provide on-time, safe and friendly service is the single most important measure of our reputation in the Twin Cities.”
