VIA Metropolitan Transit has launched a mobile application for smartphones that is designed to provide easy access to many of the features already available on VIA’s website.
The new app, called “Go VIA VIA”, is available to users of iPhones and Android devices, and it can be downloaded for free at the App Store and Google Play. The app provides access to core rider tools, such as real-time bus arrival information (with an alert feature), trip planning, system maps, route schedules, and information on fares and passes.
VIA’s own research shows that 47 percent of local bus riders have smartphones, and feedback received through VIA’s Facebook account and Twitter feed indicate that riders are ready for an app like “Go VIA VIA”.
