The Denton County Transportation Authority (DCTA) will host a Food Truckin’ Tuesdays lunchtime event on Tuesday, June 4 at the Downtown Denton Transit Center (DDTC) in Denton.

This is the first of three monthly food truck events that DCTA has planned as part of a summer pilot program.

Success of previous food truck events held at the transit center identified an opportunity to partner with local food trucks creating a fun lunchtime dining option for DCTA passengers and the Denton community. Food Truckin’ Tuesdays will take place from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on June 4, July 2 and August 6 at the Downtown Denton Transit Center, located at 604 E. Hickory St. in Denton. Participating food trucks will vary each month and will be limited based on space availability.

“The Downtown Denton Transit Center, with its community room and outdoor performance areas, was designed to be a downtown activity center and place for community gatherings. We had such a great response from previous food truck events that we created this summer pilot program. This gives local residents another reason to visit our transit center, provides an added amenity for our passengers and creates additional opportunities for people to visit downtown Denton,” explained Kristina Brevard, DCTA communications and marketing manager.

On June 4, The Pickled Carrot, The Happy Camper and Lee Malone’s are slated to be there and DentonRadio.com will provide entertainment. DCTA will announce future participants via social media.

“The thousands that came out to Denton's first food truck event last October proved that food trucks attract business both to the A-train and other downtown businesses.” Kevin Roden, Denton city councilman. “I'm particularly proud that Tuesday's line-up will feature three Denton-based trucks. I encourage everyone to bring their co-workers out to this unique lunch event on Tuesday.”

This June’s Food Truckin’ Tuesday event will also serve as a Dump the Pump location for the regional Dump the Pump promotion. North Texas commuters can swap a gasoline receipt for a week of free transit. The Dump the Pump promotional campaign is a regional initiative with DCTA, Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART), and The T in Fort Worth. This is just one of many Dump the Pump locations throughout the DFW metroplex. The three transit agencies will be meeting non-transit users at a variety of locations through June 15. Commuters will be offered a free weekly regional transit pass in exchange for a gasoline receipt. The passes are good for any DART, The T or DCTA fixed route bus and rail service the week of June 16-22.
