Friends of Laketran announces a Bowl-a-thon event Bowling for the Future to be held at 2 p.m. June 1, at Scores Fun Center, 65 Normandy Drive, Painesville, Ohio.

The goal of the event, being organized by committee volunteers comprised of staff and riders who use Laketran, is to raise money that financially supports the sales tax levy campaigns necessary for funding Laketran’s critical transportation service for the citizens of Lake County.

“This past spring I completed a college internship with Laketran. Because I am blind, I have always been a user of public transportation, but my internship gave me a better understanding of the funding and operations of a transit system. Now that I recognize how much Laketran relies on local sales tax funding, I felt the need to do something to give back, to make sure there’s always public transportation in Lake County,” explains Robert Glover of Willoughby, Ohio, who is the co-chairman of the Bowl-a-thon. “I hope that riders and people in Lake County realize that if we want these services in Lake County, we need to do something about it. That’s when I approached Friends of Laketran to put on this event. The staff involvement has helped make this event happen!”

Bowling for the Future is a fun and friendly competition for of all ages for a great cause!
