VA: PRTC to Extend Relationship with First Transit

First Transit to continue fixed-route operations in Woodbridge

First Transit has been awarded a new transit operations contract by the Potomac and Rappahannock Transportation Commission (PRTC) in Woodbridge, Va.

With this agreement, First Transit will continue to manage and operate fixed-route services for the PRTC. At this First Transit location, the company will resume the training and management of its 240 employees and the operation of 153 vehicles throughout the city. Currently, First Transit and the PRTC safely transport more than 3.5 million riders throughout Manassas, Manassas Park, Prince William County and Washington, D.C.

“The team and I are pleased to continue our relationship with the PRTC,” said Todd Johnson, general manager, First Transit. “We value our time here in Woodbridge and the relationships we have built both with the transit authority and residents of the county. As our time with the PRTC has been extended, we look forward to continually providing safe and reliable transit services.”

The length of the contract between the PRTC and First Transit is for three years with options totaling 10 years. The new contract will begin July 1.
