Phoenix to Keep First Transit as its Transit Provider of the West Transit Facility

First Transit was recently retained by the city of Phoenix to continue operating and managing its fixed-route service. With this extension, the company will continue overseeing 375 employees and operating 146 vehicles throughout the city.

Currently, First Transit transports more than 12.8 million riders within Phoenix and the neighboring communities of Avondale, Glendale, Goodyear, Peoria and Scottsdale.

“We value our partnership with the city of Phoenix,” said Marc Perla, general manager, First Transit. “We look forward to continuing to grow within the city and providing passengers with safe, efficient and reliable transit services for the next five years. The decision by The city of Phoenix Public Transit Department shows their trust in First Transit and we are grateful for their confidence in our practices and the dedicated employees we have.”

The contract will be for five years and takes effect July 1.
