On March 18, Yuma County Intergovernmental Public Transportation Authority (YCIPTA) celebrated its first International Bus Driver Appreciation Day, recognizing its 29 operators who keep the transit system running smoothly.

During this event our customers filled out “Declarations of Appreciation” to thank our drivers for all their hard-work. All the “Declarations of Appreciation” collected nearly covered a 21 foot bus.
During this event, our drivers received over 350 passenger commendations, here are a few of the commendations received:

“He helps me and my family get around when we need a ride to places we need to go. He is also nice and always has a smile.”

“He is courteous, understanding, patient and has a great sense of humor. He helps me get to college and back safely and without unnecessary delay.”

“He has always taken his time and dedication to make sure people are on time. He has a great attitude.”

“He’s cheerful, prompt and always helpful. He also knows all of the other routes. Keep up the good work."

“He is reliable. He answers my questions and is a good bus driver. He Drives safely at all times and gets to the stops on time.

While in between routes the drivers had the opportunity to see firsthand how much their hard work is appreciated. This event was enjoyed by all and reading these notes of appreciation was a morale booster for our drivers. As a token of our appreciation, the drivers received lunch and a thank you card.

The driver with the most “Declarations of Appreciation”, Santiago Carlos, will receive a Gift Card. YCIPTA plan on making this even an annual tradition.
