Submissions are now being accepted for the 3rd annual Bike Shorts Film Festival, organized by RIDE Solutions, the Taubman Museum of Art and Shadowbox Microcinema founder Jason Garnett.
The Bike Shorts Film Festival celebrates short filmmaking of all kinds - documentary, drama, horror, music videos, experimental, animation - so long as a bicycle is featured in the film. Prizes will be offered in three categories:
• Juried prize: Selected by our panel of judges - $300
• Best original score: Selected by our judges, awarded to the movie that best features an original score or local music, appropriately licensed - $100
• Audience favorite: To be select at the end of the screening - $100
The Bike Shorts Film Festival encourages filmmakers to explore bikes and bike culture in fun, interesting, and provocative ways. Filmmakers are encouraged to be creative in their interpretation of bikes, bike culture, and the growing role of bicycles in the realm of sustainable communities, mobility, the renovation and resurgence of downtowns and historical neighborhoods.
Submission forms and technical specifications can be found at bikeroanoke.com/bikeshorts. The deadline for submissions is April 26.
