Montebello Bus Lines Assistant Director of Transportation Alva Carrasco has joined VIA Metropolitan Transit in San Antonio, Texas, as the vice president of Transportation.

Montebello Bus Lines Assistant Director of Transportation Alva Carrasco has joined VIA Metropolitan Transit in San Antonio, Texas, as the vice president of Transportation. Carrasco joined Montebello Bus Lines in 2009 and was responsible for transit operations and maintenance, transit facilities, capital improvements, marketing, information technology and customer relations. She was instrumental in implementing a number of initiatives and improvements including the construction of a CNG fuel station, rebranding of MBL services, the transportation passenger information system, the installation of a transportation-themed play area at The Shops at Montebello Mall and the revitalization of the Montebello/Commerce Metrolink Station.

As vice president of Transportation, Carrasco will oversee the daily operations of VIA’s 91 bus lines and manage the activities of more than 1,100 employees in the departments of Transportation Administration, Service Operations, Service Transportation, Paratransit Operations, Route Planning and Scheduling.

Carrasco has been in the public transportation industry for 19 years. Prior to Montebello Bus Lines, she held the positions of transit operations ,anager at Los Angeles Metropolitan Transportation Authority (LA Metro) and as a project manager and as administration supervisor at Santa Monica’s Big Blue Bus. She has a Master of Science Degree in transportation management from the Mineta Transportation Institute, San Jose State University and is an American Public Transportation Association Leadership Class of 2001-2002 alumni.
