On Monday, December 17 VIA Primo will begin service between downtown and the new South Texas Medical Center Transit Center.

This new service will operate every day from 4:00 a.m. to 1:00 a.m. with a ten-minute frequency during the busiest hours of the weekday. Stops will be made at special stations along the route as well as at the new South Texas Medical Center Transit Center and the Westside Multimodal Transit Center. There will also be extensions every 30 minutes to serve the main campus of the University of Texas at San Antonio.

Although this is a premium service using specialized vehicles, the fare will be the same as regular bus service.

To complement this new service, other routes along Fredericksburg Road and in the downtown area will be modified. Specifically, routes 91 and 92 (along with the Yellow Streetcar route) will be replaced with the more frequent Primo service, and route 520 will be extended to the Medical Center. The routes that serve the previous transit center on Merton Minter will make transfers at the new facility on Babcock Road and Medical Drive. The frequency of route 96 will be increased to every fifteen minutes during weekdays on the segment between downtown and Fredericksburg at Olmos Drive. And routes 20, 26, 68, 79, and 93 will be modified to serve the Westside Multimodal Transit Center.
