First Transit Inc., a leading private provider of transit management and contracting services, was recently awarded the transit services contract for VanGo, a countywide transportation system for the residents of Charles County, Md. The company will oversee the operation of fixed-route and paratransit service beginning November 1, 2012. This contract includes the management of 70 employees and the operation of 37 vehicles, which conducts more than 700,000 trips annually. First Transit's Vice President of the East Region Dave Van Fossen says his team is eager to become a part of the community.

"This transit system is an important resource for the residents of Charles County, and we look forward to continuing to provide everyone with a safe and reliable transit service throughout the city."
