Dean L. Groves and Peter Piattoni Join URS' New England Operations

Groves new position is as Director of Strategic Growth and Piattoni will serve as Director of Business Development for New England

Dean L. Groves, P.E., and Peter Piattoni have joined URS Corporation's New England operations as part of its Infrastructure & Environment Division.

Mr. Groves, in his capacity as Director of Strategic Growth, will help direct URS' expansion plans throughout New England. Currently, URS has offices in Boston, MA; Rocky Hill, CT; Salem, NH; and Portland, ME.  He has extensive experience in public infrastructure planning and design. Prior to joining URS, he was President and Chief Executive Officer and a member of the Board of Directors of Fay, Spofford & Thorndike, Inc., headquartered in Burlington, MA.

Mr. Groves is a leader in the engineering community in New England, and is active in numerous professional organizations, including the American Council of Engineering Companies, the New England Chapter of the American Public Works Association, the American Society of Civil Engineers, the Boston Society of Civil Engineers, and the Institute of Transportation Engineers. He received an MS in civil engineering from Northeastern University, and a BS in Civil Engineering from Lowell Technological Institute.

Mr. Piattoni will serve as Director of Business Development for New England, with responsibility for working with branch offices and market sectors in coordinating all aspects of business development and strategy. His experience includes business development and government relations. He has worked closely with municipalities and agencies throughout New England. He previously served as Vice President of Business Development at Fay, Spofford & Thorndike, Inc.  He also was an Instructor on Principles of Marketing at Franklin Pierce University.

Mr. Piattoni is active in a number of state, regional, and national associations, serving as a member of the American Council of Engineering Companies' National Engineering Excellence Awards committee and the national nominating committee for the American Public Works Association.  He received a BA in History from the University of New Hampshire.
