The North County TRANSporter began providing service after months of planning and development. More than 60 people attended the ribbon cutting ceremony to launch the new bus service which is designed to close a transportation gap between Santa Clarita and the Antelope Valley
The North County TRANSporter connects mid-day Metrolink trains ending in the Santa Clarita Valley with direct service between the Newhall Metrolink Station and the Palmdale Transportation Center. The new bus service is being funded by Los Angeles County through the efforts of Supervisor Michael Antonovich in partnership with the Antelope Valley Transit Authority, (AVTA).
The TRANSporter also connects to Santa Clarita Transit which provides the 757 NoHo Express, a bus service that transports passengers to the North Hollywood Station where numerous other transportation connections can be made. Funding for the North County TRANSporter has been made available by Los Angeles County Supervisor Mike Antonovich. The funding will remain in place for two-years in order to give the North County TRANSporter time to establish ridership.
"This new service will enable North County residents to reach destinations all over Southern California," stated Los Angeles County Supervisor Michael Antonovich. "Providing this service is critical to connecting Antelope Valley residents to other transportation services and systems throughout the County of Los Angeles and beyond."
The North County TRANSporter was on hand during the ribbon cutting ceremony so those in attendance could see the new artwork that is featured on the bus. Bold lettering on either side of the bus identifies the TRANSporter, making it highly visible and distinct from AVTA’s regular service.
