Hugunin Joins Gannett Fleming

In his new position, Hugunin will provide leadership and management for federal oversight of Sacramento Regional Transit District’s South Sacramento Corridor Phase 2 extension.

John D. Hugunin, P.E., joined Gannett Fleming as a senior project manager. He is based out of the firm’s San Francisco office.

In his new position, Hugunin will provide leadership and management for federal oversight of Sacramento Regional Transit District’s South Sacramento Corridor Phase 2 extension. He also will lead initiatives to help local agencies with public works and transit projects in northern California, specifically focused on transit and public works projects in the North Bay area.

With nearly three decades of project management and civil engineering experience, Hugunin is highly regarded for his ability to find solutions to complex technical issues in the development and construction of transit and public works projects. He is experienced in providing program and project management, planning, engineering and professional extension-of-staff services for public agencies and private clients. His area of emphasis is transit and transportation, with a solid background in planning, design, construction and safety review of light, heavy, commuter and high-speed rail projects. He has acted as the city engineer for local agencies and is experienced in municipal and land development engineering and in public works grant-funding procurement.

A resident of Marin County, Calif., Hugunin holds a bachelor of science in civil engineering from the California State Polytechnic University. He is a registered civil engineer and a licensed professional engineer in the state of California.
