The antenna is ideal for deployment in public safety, smart grid, railroad, SCADA and other mission critical applications where performance cannot be compromised.

PCTEL, Inc., a provider of antenna and scanning receiver solutions, announced the release of the PCTEL Bluewave high-performance log periodic antenna with full coverage of the 136-174MHz VHF frequency band for use with wideband radio technology. The antenna is ideal for deployment in public safety, smart grid, railroad, SCADA and other mission critical applications where performance cannot be compromised.

PCTEL’s LPA136174-6NF antenna is a rugged, no-tune design featuring a solid element construction with robust materials. Premium coatings and finishes are utilized on the antenna for long term reliability. The log periodic provides 8.1 dBi gain and consistent radiation pattern performance across the specified frequency range. The wideband feature of the new design allows system planners and integrators to use a single directional antenna in the deployment of interoperable public safety networks.

“This new PCTEL antenna showcases our investment and commitment of developing innovative antenna products that simplify wireless network design challenges for our customers,” said Jeff Miller, PCTEL’s senior vice president of sales and marketing. “We continue to work closely with our public safety, industrial wireless and railroad customers to design solutions that meet their evolving requirements,” added Miller.

PCTEL will display the new wideband antenna as well as its other antenna and wireless connectivity solutions at this year’s ENTELEC Conference and EXPO, May 16-17, 2012 in Houston, Texas, Booth #130 and at the Railway Systems Suppliers 52nd Annual C&S Exhibition, Booth #1007, May 21-23, 2012 in Cincinnati, Ohio. The antenna is currently available for sale.
