SourceOne, a nationally recognized energy services consultancy and a subsidiary of Veolia Energy North America, announced that it has been awarded a three-year contract to provide guidance and support for electricity and natural gas procurement for the Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority (SEPTA),the nation’s sixth largest public transit organization. The contract was awarded to SourceOne after a competitive public request for proposal for energy consultant services.
“This collaborative effort with SourceOne is part of SEPTA’s commitment to providing the most efficient and cost-effective services to our customers,” said Frank Gormley, SEPTA’s operating budget director. “We are enthusiastic about our partnership with SourceOne and look forward to a relationship that should further reduce our carbon footprint and reduce utility costs. We see this work as a critical part of our efforts to better service the communities we work in, and the passengers who rely on us for transportation.”
As part of the agreement, SourceOne will provide recommendations on the best practices for energy management to one of the country’s oldest transportation systems, dating back to the deployment of electric trolleys in 1892. SourceOne will work with SEPTA to assist and advise staff on strategies for the purchase and management of all SEPTA utilities, including natural gas, water and sewer (including all storm water issues), electricity, heating oil and propane. Additionally, SourceOne will evaluate renewable energy credit markets to be used to determine the viability of pursuing different alternative energy projects as required.
