APTA Selects New Chief Financial Officer

Mary Childress has joined the American Public Transportation Association (APTA) as Chief Financial Officer, announced APTA President Michael Melaniphy. Childress has more than 25 years experience leading the financial and administrative functions of associations and non-profit organizations.

"Mary Childress brings a wealth of experience and expertise to APTA," said Melaniphy. "Her strong financial know-how and her diverse association background will be invaluable for our association."

Before joining APTA this month, Childress served as chief operating officer at the Association of State and Territorial Health Officials. Previously, she has held senior-level finance positions at the American Wind Energy Association, Optical Society of America, National Association for Home Care, and Partnership for Democracy.

A graduate of the University of Maryland, Childress holds designations as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and a Certified Association Executive (CAE).

She succeeds L. Samuel Kerns, who joined the American Forest and Paper Association.
