Proterra announced John Sleconich recently joined the organization as its new vice president of engineering.

“I am so looking forward to taking on this exciting new challenge. Proterra has the opportunity to be a real game changer in the transit industry, and I want to be part of the journey,” said Sleconich. “After many years in the aerospace industry, I’m thrilled to utilize my knowledge to help fuel the next big innovation in transportation.”

Sleconich joins Proterra with over 25 years’ experience at two of the world’s foremost aerospace companies. Most recently, he served as director of Systems Engineering for Cessna Aircraft Company in Wichita, Kan.

In his new role at Proterra, Sleconich will take responsibility for new product development, compliance, technical publications, quality and product safety. He will also oversee engineering product support for all vehicles in production and in service. A graduate of Southern Illinois University, Sleconich holds two Bachelor of Science degrees in both business economics and electrical engineering.

“I intend to lead Proterra’s engineering team to realize its full potential” said Sleconich. “With hard work and determination, we will lead the industry in innovation and design.”
