The US High Speed Rail Association (USHSR) commends the leadership in the U.S. Senate for working through a complicated transportation bill to be passed today by the Senate. Congratulations to Senators Boxer and Inhofe for their leadership, and to the entire Senate for passing this important transportation funding bill. "This is clearly a great bipartisan step forward in transportation for America" said Thomas Hart, USHSR vice president for Government Affairs. "We commend the leadership in the Senate for their hard work on this bill, and urge the House to pass a similar bipartisan bill."

The $109 billion investment in America's transportation continues to support transit and rail, and improve the nation's infrastructure that's so important to the ongoing prosperity of America.

USHSR recently held a conference specifically focused on the transportation bill - Surface Transportation & High Speed Rail Summit, Feb. 28-March 1, at the Alion Conference Center in Washington, D.C. This three-day conference brought together the nation's top government officials, including a number of Congress members. Several days of discussions were held about advancing transportation.

"Congratulations to the U.S. Senate for moving America one step closer to 21st century transportation!" said USHSR President Andy Kunz. "Transportation is the lifeblood of the nation, and we need to keep investing in advanced transportation systems to keep America competitive."
