Lemke Joins Gannett Fleming

Lemke is responsible for performing and leading train control and highway at rail-grade-crossing design and coordination throughout the western United States.

Barry W. Lemke has joined Gannett Fleming Transit & Rail Systems (GFT&RS) as a senior signal designer. Based in the firm’s San Francisco office, Lemke is responsible for performing and leading train control and highway at rail-grade-crossing design and coordination throughout the western United States. GFT&RS is a division of Gannett Fleming specializing in transit and railroad track, signal, communication and electric traction design.

With 31 years of experience, Lemke has significant experience with providing detailed designs and quality reviews of train control plans, specifications and modifications to grade crossing systems, construction management services for cutover and re-signaling, and design for transit systems. Before joining GFT&RS, Lemke gained experience working for the San Francisco Municipal Railway and the Massachusetts Bay Transit Authority.

Lemke has studied microprocessor design at Diablo Valley College in Pleasant Hill, Calif., and basic and advanced electronics with the U.S. Navy. He is a member of the American Railway Engineering and Maintenance of Way Association. He also has served in the U.S. Navy as a fire control technician and has served on the board of directors for Utah Operation Lifesaver. Lemke received the Engineer of the Quarter Award, 1991, and the Gold Award, 1989, from the San Francisco Municipal Railway. He is a resident of Half Moon Bay, Calif.
