Tunde Balvanyos has been named a Supervising Planner in the San Diego office of Parsons Brinckerhoff, a global infrastructure strategic consulting, planning, engineering and program/construction management organization.

Tunde Balvanyos has been named a Supervising Planner in the San Diego office of Parsons Brinckerhoff, a global infrastructure strategic consulting, planning, engineering and program/construction management organization. In her new position, Balvanyos is responsible for managing and supporting the planning and development of highway, rail, transit, bicycle and pedestrian projects on behalf of the San Diego Association of Governments, the California Department of Transportation, and other regional and local agencies.

Balvanyos has 12 years of experience in project management, transportation planning and programming, public involvement programs and interagency coordination. Prior to joining Parsons Brinckerhoff, she was the Bus Rapid Transit Coordinator and Program Manager for Pace Suburban Bus, a transit agency in the suburbs of Chicago, where she managed all aspects of the development and planning of the agency's bus rapid transit program.

Balvanyos earned Ph.D. and M.S. degrees in civil and environmental engineering from Carnegie Mellon University and an M.S. in civil engineering from the Technical University of Budapest, Hungary. She is a certified Project Management Professional and member of the Project Management Institute. She is also a member of the San Diego chapter of the Women's Transportation Seminar and serves as Secretary of the transit capacity and quality of service committee of the Transportation Research Board. She has volunteered on numerous synthesis and research panels of the Transit Cooperative Research Program.
