All InnoTrans segments set to expand

Sept. 28, 2011
No more than a year before InnoTrans 2012 opens its doors it is time to draw an interim conclusion. The fair is on the right track and all signs point towards growth

On Sept. 18, 2012 the industry will once again be displaying its latest innovations on the Berlin Exhibition Grounds. One thing is already clear: InnoTrans 2012 will continue to build on its reputation as the world's leading trade fair for rail transport technology. Every segment of the fair has reported demand on an unprecedented scale and already both the outdoor and rail track display sites are fully booked up.

A comparison with the figures for the previous event shows that at InnoTrans 2012 both the exhibitor numbers and the amount of display space will continue to grow. Around 85 percent of the display area at InnoTrans 2010 has now been occupied. Messe Berlin, the fair's organizer, expects the display halls will soon be fully booked up. It is worth noting in this context that compared with the previous event companies are renting out larger stands in 2012, confirmation that the industry is keener than ever to make the most of its presence at InnoTrans.

The fair's international appeal has grown too. Currently the share of foreign exhibitors has reached 52 per cent, a figure which is set to rise. Demand from Asia is particularly high. One year before the fair is due to begin exhibitors from this region have already rented out more display space than at InnoTrans 2010. Next year, in addition to large system manufacturers and medium-sized enterprises, all the leading industry associations and transport companies from Germany and abroad will be represented at InnoTrans.
