CA: BART Police Chief Issues Statement About Platform Video From July 3rd Officer-Involved Shooting

BART Police Chief Kenton Rainey has just ordered the releaseof the video from the only other camera on the platform recording at thetime of the July 3, 2011 officer-involved shooting at the Civic Center/UNPlaza Station.

BART Police Chief Kenton Rainey has just ordered the releaseof the video from the only other camera on the platform recording at thetime of the July 3, 2011 officer-involved shooting at the Civic Center/UNPlaza Station. This video is now available on BARTtv www.bart.gov/BARTtv.Chief Rainey has also issued this statement:


"Members of the media have asked if there was any other video from BART'scameras of the platform directly behind suspect Charles Hill. I wasmisinformed. The answer is yes. However, it does not have any evidentiaryvalue. The camera that recorded this video is located approximately 600feet away from the incident and on the opposite platform. We immediatelyturned this platform video over to the San Francisco Police Departmentafter the incident. BART's Independent Police Auditor also has a copy. Intheinterest of transparency, I'm ordering the immediate release of the video,which the public can view on BARTtv."
