Duluth Transit Authority continues 41-year relationship with First Transit.

Since 1970, First Transit, Inc., a private provider of transit management, has supervised the operations of the Duluth Transit Authority (DTA) in Duluth, Minn. DTA has agreed to a five-year contract extension with First Transit, where it will continue management of the transit authority's 135 employees and 62 buses, which provide fixed-route service throughout the city. According to area vice president and general manager of DTA, Dennis Jensen says the contract extension is proof of a strong and storied relationship between the city and First Transit.

"As a company, we are always pleased to continue a relationship as long as we have with Duluth Transit," Jensen said. "Throughout the time of our relationship, we have seen the transit authority grow both in ridership and in operations. We are excited to be a part of the city and hope to continue contributing to the city and DTA's success."

The DTA transports more than 3.2 million passengers annually. First Transit provides complete operations and transit management services, as well as comprehensive preventative maintenance and inspection programs to meet customer transportation and budgetary needs.
