Starting on July 1, First Transit will begin management of Springfield City Area Transit (SCAT). The contract will provide the company with a 2.5-year agreement, where it will manage 20 employees and 25 buses, to safely and efficiently transport residents throughout the city, as well as surrounding neighborhoods. Annually, SCAT transports more than 452,000 passengers annually.
“This agreement is a great opportunity for both our First Transit team and the city of Springfield to improve the transit system and provide great transportation service to the community,” said Ron Macaluso, general manager, First Transit. “We look forward to the start of our contract and becoming a positive part of the city.”
First Transit provides complete operations and transit management services as well as comprehensive preventative maintenance and inspection programs to meet customer transportation and budgetary needs.
