Bosch Introduces Outdoor Thermal IP Cameras

Threat detection at night and in adverse weather.

Bosch Security Systems, Inc. has launched its VOT-320 Thermal IP fixed camera series, which enables round-the-clock monitoring in any lighting condition. The cameras combine the advantages of thermal imaging with Bosch’s Intelligent Video Analysis capabilities for a unique security solution for early threat detection – even in complete darkness, heavy fog or snow.

The new cameras provide uncooled long wave thermal images to capture heat-radiating objects up to nearly 13 feet away. They are available with narrow or wide field of view lenses with a frame rate of 8.33 or 30 Hz. A Vanadium Oxide focal plane array with a resolution of 320x240 pixels delivers outstanding image quality and sensitivity, producing surveillance video that is not constricted by shadows, low light conditions or adverse weather. The VOT-320 Thermal IP Cameras also use advanced video processing technology for pixel-by-pixel analysis and noise reduction to provide the most detailed information from the scene.

The VOT-320 cameras feature Bosch’s Intelligent Video Analysis (IVA) optimized for thermal imaging. This advanced processing feature automatically analyzes video signals for suspicious activities or hazardous situations and alerts operators to potential risks. IVA captures comprehensive details of recorded scenes, helping operators find any event quickly – even those not pre-defined as alerts.

With Bosch’s innovative tri-streaming feature, the cameras can simultaneously produce two H.264 streams and one JPEG stream. This allows customers to have a high-resolution H.264 stream for live viewing and recording and a second lower resolution H.264 stream for constrained bandwidth networks, while JPEG images are sent to another device.

Customers can record video on an iSCSI storage array without the need for additional software or locally on a Secure Digital (SD) card to provide increased reliability in the event of a network failure.

For easy installation, the cameras conform to the Open Network Video Interface Forum (ONVIF) specification, which guarantees interoperability between network video products regardless of manufacturer.

The series includes rugged housings that are IP 66 rated and feature an integrated window heater. It is ideal for a range of applications, including transportation hubs, traffic monitoring, industrial sites, and homeland security applications.
