Ottawa bus drivers, dispatchers and mechanics will be voting today on a tentative contract offer from the city. The one-year contract extension would give the OC Transpo workers a two per cent wage increase.

The Amalgamated Transit Union says that would add between $1,100 and $1,300 a year to the workers' paycheques.

There's also a guarantee that members can conduct the maintenance work on Ottawa's Light Rail Transit trains.

The contract would run until the end of March and if approved, would eliminate the potential for a winter transit strike.

The union and the city plan to start negotiations on a long-term deal in early December. (CFRA)
