MD: MTA Driver Faces Assault, Other Charges

The Maryland Transit Administration is investigating an assault on an MTA bus that ended with a passenger being stabbed and an operator taken into custody.

The Maryland Transit Administration is investigating an assault on an MTA bus that ended with a passenger being stabbed and an operator taken into custody.

According to the MTA police, an altercation between an operator and customer occurred early Saturday in the 7800 block of Eastern Avenue.

Authorities have identified the passenger as 44-year-old Ricardo Devon Hale. Hale suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was treated at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center. Police did not release any additional information about what led to the stabbing.

The operator, identified as 28-year-old Brian Jamal Marshall, was being detained at the Baltimore County Detention Center and was facing charges including assault, aggravated assault and possession of a deadly weapon. Hale was hired by the MTA in 2006, authorities said.
